I always thought it strange that Ulmo would be the only Vala to take on some abstractions of the form of the Children of Ilúvatar. Even if the rest of the Valar loved them so much, why would such overwhelmingly creative and powerful beings settle for simply imitating them? I never really liked images of them appearing just as tall elves.
